IPS/IDS

An IDS (Intrusion Detection System) monitors network traffic for suspicious activity and alerts administrators without taking action.

In contrast, an IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) actively detects and blocks malicious traffic in real time to prevent threats. While IDS is passive and only provides alerts, IPS offers active defense by automatically blocking harmful traffic. Both systems are often used together for layered security, with IDS providing insights and IPS offering immediate protection.
